Q.How do you determine the price for boulders?
A. KRC Rock typically utilizes a volume approximation system to determine the price for boulders. To determine the approximate volume, think of an imaginary box that the boulder would fit into. We measure the length, width and height, rounding up in 1/2 foot increments. To calculate the price for that boulder, we apply the dimensions of that imaginary box to our cube chart* to find the cube number that that we will use for pricing the boulder. The cube number is multiplied by the price per cube to get the price for the boulder. (*The cube chart yields the volume of an ellipsoid, which is a jelly bean-like shape.)
Q. How much aggregate (pebble, sand, crushed rock, etc.) do I need?
A. In order to determine how much aggregate is required for a project, we just need some very simple measurements. Measure the length and the width of the area to be covered. Helpful Calculation Tool (The length multiplied by the width will give us the number of square feet to be covered.) Next, we need to know how deep you would like to fill the area. With that information, we can tell you how much material you will need. (Important note: larger aggregate requires greater depth to obtain adequate coverage.) We also recommend using a weed barrier to reduce the opportunity for weeds to root in the soil below the aggregate.
Q. Is there a delivery charge?
A. KRC Rock charges a fee based on the delivery zip code and type of vehicle being used for the delivery. Please call us for pricing in your area.
Q. How much flagstone do I need for my project?
A. The amount of flagstone you will need for your project has a few different variables to it. To start with, we need to know how may square feet you have. Helpful Calculation Tool (Multiply the number of feet long by the number of feet wide to get the number of square feet.) Now, we need to know the average thickness of the flagstone that you are installing. This will give us the information needed to determine the approximate amount of stone needed to cover the area. *Important note- actual coverage will vary. See our Coverage Calculator
Q. What is the smallest quantity I can purchase?
A. Our bulk materials are sold by the cubic yard, or you may buy it in 1/2 cubic foot bags. You may purchase as little as one-quarter cubic yard, or just one bag. Palletized material is sold by the ton, or you may purchase by the pound if you only need a small quantity.

Q. How do I know what type of stone to buy?

Q. How do you place boulders?
A. KRC Rock can place boulders with our truck-mounted boulder placement equipment. Please see the BOULDER PLACEMENT UNIT (BPU) SPEC to determine the best option for your project. KRC Rock also rents ROCK DOLLYS for use with boulders under two feet in diameter.
Q. Should stone be sealed?
A. In order to protect your investment we recommend that you seal it. This will help to keep stains out and keep the natural colors rich and vibrant. Not sure what type of sealer to use?
